JURIED SHOW DATES: November 15, 16, 17, 2024. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, November 15th, and 16th.
JUDGING: Judging will be held on November 15, 2024 - Judging will be at the discretion of a qualified judge, or judges, to be announced day of the show.
LIABILITY: Cossatot Arts & Crafts, Association, Inc., the King Arts & Crafts Festival, the CAC board, and management will not be responsible for loss or damage however caused. Artists desiring this protection should insure their work personally. However, reasonable precautions will be taken. The building will be locked except during show hours when attendants will be on duty. There will be a night watchman for added protection. A ramp is located at the back of the building (north side).
ELIGIBILITY: All work submitted for competition must be the artist’s original work, conceived and created by the artist, completed within the past 2 years, and not previously shown in a CAC art show. Adaptation of other artist’s work, classroom, and workshop work (where everyone paints the same composite) are acceptable for NON-COMPETITIVE ONLY and may be offered for sale. Prints will not be allowed for competition. Members accepting entries have the right to turn away paintings not considered in good taste. Computer/digital art will not be accepted.
ENTRY FEES: The adult entry fee is $10.00 per entry to (members), $15.00 per entry to non-members with no limit. $20 annual membership runs from show to show. There is a $1.00 entry fee for youth for up to two entries. There will be no fee for children.
DELIVERY DATE: All work must be delivered to the Cossatot Art Center on EITHER Saturday October 1st- 12 -6PM OR Tuesday, Oct 4th, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (No Wet Paint!) Pick up time is Sunday, Oct 9th 3:30 p.m. Purchase award to be picked up by owner - artist to keep ribbons.
FRAMING AND HANGING: The pictures will be hung on Wednesday, Oct 5th, by the placement committee. Lewd or otherwise distasteful works, as determined by the CAC Board, will not be accepted. ALL work, including children’s and youth’s, must be suitably framed, and wired for hanging (no sawtooth hangers) or they will not be accepted. If hanging apparatus fails, painting will not be rehung. All checks must be cashed
AWARDS: There will be cash awards of $80 first place, $55 second place, and $40 third place, as well as ribbons in all categories listed below. Other awards are: $100 People’s Choice Ribbon by CAC, $100 Best of Show by CAC
ADULT PAINTING DIVISIONS: Abstract/Contemporary, Floral, Animal, Old Barns/Western, Landscape, Portrait, Still Life, Cossatot Country In the Cossatot Country Painting category the painting may be in any medium. It can be a Landscape, Portrait, Still Life, etc., but must typify Cossatot Country. The subject must be within 15 miles of the Cossatot River. Subjects must be identified, and the exact location given on attached card. The subject must be within a 15-mile radius of the Cossatot River. Any one artist may win three ribbons in art and three ribbons in photography, purchase awards are unlimited. 25% on all sales to the association including purchase awards, artist attic and entries sold. Sales tax is the responsibility of the artist.
CHILDREN (GRADES 1-6): Students in the Youth Division and Children’s Division are limited to two entries per student. Entries must have been completed within the past two years AND youth and not previously shown in the Cossatot Art Show. Cards must be affixed to the back of each exhibit before entry date showing name, grade, age, and phone number. CHILDREN: (No entry fee.) $25 People’s Choice by Lucretia Walker $25 Best of Show, Lucretia Walker $25 Merit Awards: Nancy Youngblood, Rusty Youngblood $25 Merit Awards/Animal Category (1) by De Queen Animal Hospital. Cash Awards of $15 first place, $10 second place and $5 third place in each division.
YOUTH (GRADES 7-12): Phone number of the child. To be judged, all pictures must be framed or matted and mounted on heavy backing and wired for hanging. Youth divisions entries are to be no larger than 24x30 and children’s no larger than 20x24, including matting or framing. There will be a “Clothesline Art” category for 0-K with participation ribbons only awarded. There is no “Photography” category for youth or children. They may enter adult photography and must pay adult entry fees. They will be eligible for adult money awards. YOUTH: (Cost of entry: $1.00 per painting.) $50 Best of Show, Lucretia Walker $30 People's Choice Award by Diane and Gerald Pharr $25 Merit Awards (2) by (1) Jennifer Seal (1) Nancy Youngblood $25 Merit Awards/Animal Category (1) by De Queen Animal Hospital. Note: Art Teachers *All Children and Youth art must be suitably framed (either in frame or on mat board/construction paper) with wire (if in frame) or strong string (if framed in mat board) for hanging, or they will not be accepted. (Except age 0-5 yrs. Clothesline Art) String or wire Must be strong enough to stay and not fall or will not be judged. *Name Cards with name, grade, age, school, and your phone # must be attached on back of each entry (this card is different from the CAC entry carbon x3 cards) (This name card is something you’ll make) *CAC Entry card (3x carbon entry card) must be filled out by you for each Children and Youth entry. We will attach these to the front ourselves when you bring them to check in. There are a lot of visitors visiting the show who are looking for artwork to purchase and encourage new artist *Clothesline Art category – ages 0-5 Does NOT have to be framed or matted. Purchase Award holders are supporters who have committed to buy a painting for at least the amount shown. They may choose from any category including
PHOTOGRAPHY: Both color and black and white will be shown in the same categories. Photography must be framed. No saw tooth hangers. Mats must not be smaller than 11 x 14 inches. Both amateur and professionals may exhibit but no form of advertising will be allowed. Photography will be judged as an art form by the same criteria as other media. There will be cash awards of $80.00 first place, $55.00 second place, and $40.00 third place as well as ribbons in the following three categories: Photography - General Photography - Cossatot Country Photography - Landscape Photography. Cossatot Country Photography must depict a subject within a 15-mile radius of the Cossatot river. Exact location must be given on back. PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS: $100 “Best of Show” ribbon and a $50 Judges Award by CAC.
VIOLATIONS:Willful violations of the above rules will result in being barred from future shows. Only the artist’s own work may be photographed.
Vendor Rules & Regulations
Vendors are responsible for bringing extension cords and surge protectors with them. CAC does not provide these items.
Vendors are responsible for collecting and reporting sales tax.
Fees cover all three days of the King Arts & Crafts Festival and do not include any other festivals or events hosted by the CAC.
Vendor spaces are 10' x 20' with 5' between booths so Customers may have access to the sides of the booth.
The Vendor is responsible for keeping vendor booth area clean and organized at all times.
The Vendor is expected to keeping vendor booth open with an attendant present during festival hours.
Horseplay, fighting, harassment, bullying, or violence is prohibited on festival grounds and CAC property.
Proof of Insurance and/or Health Department Permit may be required for Food and Entertainment vendors. Please call 479-216-1537 to verify regulations.
Daily and nightly security will be provided during the three-day King Arts & Crafts Festival. However, the CAC and the Kings Arts & Crafts festival will not be responsible for theft or damage to vendor merchandise, booths, vehicles, or equipment.
